On every entry here a page says the evening is open to anyone or that guests are welcome, so a visitor can sit down at a board without joining first. In Karlsruhe that means the Schachclub uBu, whose Tuesday evening at the Old Chapel Pub runs from eight until one in the morning, the Karlsruher Schachfreunde 1853 on Fridays in the Bürgerzentrum Südstadt, and the Schachklub Durlach, which keeps its training evenings open to everyone.

Further out the list takes in Bretten, Forst, Rheinstetten, Ettlingen, Bruchsal, Waldbronn, Illingen and Hörden, the Schachfreunde Oberreichenbach on Monday evenings in the Gasthaus Hirsch and the OSG Baden-Baden at the Schachzentrum on the Lichtentaler Allee. In Sulzfeld the club’s blitz on the first Friday of the month needs no registration, and the Sulzfelder Open is open to all players.
